Sara Ibtasar

As an active participant in the International Conference on Sustainable Development in Malaysia, I was given the honor of presenting my paper Analysis of Development Expenditure and its impact on Socio Economic Development of the Region. This was directly related to the spending that is rendered by governments to uplift and upgrade economic development in addition to strengthening public services through these expenditures.
My experience at the Urban Unit, Planning & Development Board, Govt. of Punjab has allowed me to become a well-rounded person, my work includes research, coordination, policy analysis and recommendations, developing frameworks, conducting surveys, planning and designing projects etc. Currently I am working in a
team where we are developing regional plans, the sectors we are focused on include industrial development, trade and commerce, agricultural development, health and education.
Under the regional planning scheme we are helping in providing regions with a long term vision for economic growth based on evidence and data which would result in improving competitiveness of each region based on its endowments subsequently ensuring efficient and equitable use of resources and improving the socio-economic development across Punjab. The regional visions are then activated through a portfolio of programs, schemes and
projects financed by ADP, PSDP, PPP or even donor programs.
We have already developed three regional strategies which have helped policy makers to identify potential projects & programs in their region for economic growth and employment opportunities and these projects have been included in the Annual Development Program.
In conjunction I am also a partner in a not-for-profit donor funded startup by the name of The Smol Box, which focuses on four key areas ; providing quality education, providing healthcare, feeding the needy and providing skill based trainings to the underprivileged.
The experience and know how I have gained from these surmountable public and private entities have helped me pave the way to a holistic approach at gaining a solid command on economic planning, policy research, data analysis and coordination.
